A recent graduate of Martin Wales Radio Show Mentoring Program, Martha holds an A.B. in The Classics [Greek and Latin] from Radcliffe College. Her graduate work includes creative writing at Radcliffe Seminars and at Emerson College; graduate work in business, and more than two decades of study in psychology.

Her collaboration since 2004 with positive psychologist for women Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein provided her the opportunity to co-host [2007 - 2008] the weekly e-radio show “Happiness For Women Only” at InternetVoicesRadio.

Among Martha’s mentors are Dr. Michael Eigen, Editor, Psychoanalytic Review, and Dr. Don Nathanson, Executive Director of The Silvan S. Tomkins Institute. The considerable generosity and unflappable support of both these men encouraged her to persevere in mentoring — via her writings and radio shows — suffering women.

Martha is particularly grateful for two years of study of the psychology of narcissism with Harvard Medical School Associate Professor Of Psychology Dr. Silvia Halperin [The Cambridge Hospital Department of Psychiatry], whose focus upon Kohutian self-psychology afforded Martha her model’s foundational organizing principles. She is also grateful to Dr. Nancy Brehm for her loving instruction on D. W. Winnicott.

Since 1997, ongoing study at PsyBC has presented Martha with access to the brilliance of many leading psychologists, including Dr. Michael Eigen, Dr. Stan Tatkin, Dr. Otto Kernberg, and Dr. John Gottman.

Affect theory, self psychology, the psychology of women, D.W. Winnicott, object relations, cognitive therapy, the psychology of trauma, group therapy psychology and the principles of coaching materially inform her work. Affective neuroscience is her current area of study.

She is author of several works of inspiration, including the upcoming Wings Of Self-Love: Inspiration For Shattered Women.

As often as she can, Martha quilts, sews, gardens, cooks, writes fiction, reads, paints with watercolor, and songwrites [ASCAP]. A strict environmentalist, she is a devotee of American Classic Films — in particular, those of the 1930’s and 1940’s. The proud, passionate mother of three German Shepherd dogs and ooodles of cats and kittens, she is hopelessly in love with The Land. A native and longtime resident of Cambridge Massachusetts, Martha and her family presently live in an antique farm house on forty-two splendid acres in the Vermont hills.
